History
of “Post Brewery Weiler” in the Allgaeu
1650 “Birth year“ of Postbier brewing tradition.
1849 The name “Zur Post” is mentioned for the
first time by the owner of the inn and beer brewer Josef Anton Wucher who
gave his brewery cum inn this name.
1852 The brewery cum inn also becomes a “royal bavarian
coaching house” and now the owner is no longer just the publican, but
also the beer brewer and the post office official in one person.
1904 The brewery moves to Käsgasse, where the beer is
still being brewed today.
1907 The late Anton Zinth takes over the brewery and extends
and modernises it. In the post war years he continues with his eldest son
Herbert to extend the operation until his death in December 1961.
1961 Anton Zinth's sons Herbert and Anton take over the brewery.
The following years are marked by major investments. These include the building
of a new storage hall for full and empty beer bottles. Later they abandon
the old clip-lock bottles and wooden beer cases and replace them by new packaging
forms; they also modernise the bottling plant.
1974 Postbier is registered as a trademark and thus becomes
a product of Post Brewery Weiler protected by trademark legislation.
Today under the umbrella trade mark “Postbier“ various top and
bottom fermented types of beer are being produced at Post Brewery Weiler.
The sales market extends from the Allgaeu to the Lake Constance area and the
bordering Austrian federal state of Vorarlberg.
In the summer of 2006 “Post Brewery Online-Shop”
starts its operation. Fresh Postbier from the Allgaeu is now no longer available
in the traditional sales markets only, but also worldwide.
